Answer Questions About Your Internet Business With Confidence
Internet Marketers typically spend most of their time working on their own. If they use a time managing method they will usually spend up to 8% of their work time on activities that generate income, what are called IPA. The rest of the time they should use for skill enhancement, or for learning new skill sets. I am often asked what skills are best for Internet marketers.
When thinking about what skills you can learn in your 20% of non income earning activities, consider this: Personal development, or self improvement is listed by Internet marketing guru Mike Dillard as the number one most effective activity in his book “Magnetic Sponsoring.” I would tend to agree.
One of the areas in my business that was neglected in the early days, was responding to questions that inevitably arose in the normal interaction with customers colleagues and leads. My knowledge of my business at the outset was patchy, and I saw many of the questions as challenges, rather than what they were, requests for information. Any response from a potential customer is a valuable contact. That response that should be analysed, and potential answers archived for future use.
Here is a powerful technique you can use to improve your responses to questions about your online marketing business.
1. Think of all the questions you have received, and add to that list all the questions that you can think of that might be asked of you. Think as laterally as you can.
2. Sort into topics. Some of the questions may be stupid, but list them anyway. Whoever asked the question did not see the question as stupid. Some will seem more important than others, some will be asked more than once.
3. Answer each question. There may be more than one answer – try to cover all facets of the question, and from all perspectives. Remember the KISS principle. Some questions may be complex, others simple. Still others may be asked so that a response from you can tick emotional boxes for the person who asks. Every time you answer a question, ask another of your correspondent, to trigger more contact, and interaction.
4. Review each answer for errors and check if your response could be considered antagonistic. Sometimes a question INVITES a caustic response, but do not be goaded. Remember, every question, no matter how stupid, or adverserial, is a someone asking for more information.
5. Survey each of your questioners. Send a follow-up message asking if you were of help, and ask if there is more you can do. You will find the feedback of immense help with future questions.
If you practice this technique, your skill will grow. You will become the “go to guy” when it comes to internet marketing business. Your business & your success will grow.
